Call for Nominations - 27th Annual Phoenix Awards

Outstanding Masters' Student, Doctoral Student and Faculty Member

Each spring, the Graduate and Professional Student Government Association selects an outstanding master’s student, doctoral student, and faculty member to present with its highest honor: the Phoenix Award.

The Phoenix Award recognizes exemplary achievement in leadership, scholarship, professional involvement and university and community service; especially as it relates to involvement with graduate students. The student award winners each receive a $750 monetary award from the GPSGA and the Graduate College, and all winners have their names engraved on the Phoenix Awards plaque located outside the Graduate College offices in Whitehurst Hall.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae/resume and three letters of nomination/recommendation highlighting the nominee’s achievements and qualifications for the award. Previous Phoenix Award winners are not eligible. See below for detailed application requirements and a list of previous award winners.

The GPSGA Phoenix Awards Committee will review the nomination packages, conduct interviews of three finalists for each award, and select the winners. The interviews will be conducted on April 8, 2009 for Masters finalists, April 9, 2009 for Doctoral finalists and April 10, 2009 for Faculty finalists. A reception honoring the Phoenix Award winners and finalists will be held April 16, 2009.
